Biography

University in order to improve community awareness and overall knowledge about the music business. He has been instructing in the program from its inception in 2005 until present.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the music industry, Jordan’s mission is to take his message, knowledge and experience from the classroom/boardroom to a global environment.

Jordan has been abundantly blessed in the entertainment industry with a specific focus on developing musical talent.  His affinity for hip-hop began to manifest as an adolescent growing up in Houston, Texas, as he listened with enthusiasm to legendary artists like Scarface, Geto Boys, and NWA among others.  Jordan’s high school athleticism and academics led him to the collegiate experience of a lifetime.   In May 1992, he graduated from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.   His love of sports and entertainment preempted him to study law, and he went on to earn a Juris Doctorate degree in 1996 from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas, where he specialized in sports and entertainment.     Jordan was highly regarded and respected among entertainment industry greats and eventually became known as someone to watch on the sports and entertainment scene.

When Jordan officially entered the music business in 1998, founding Straight Profit LLC d/b/a Straight Profit Records, he became well-known after signing the phenomenally talented artist, Yungstar, whose musically-mesmerizing voice was featured on the smash hit single “Wanna Be a Baller” (which sold over 5 million copies).  Shortly thereafter, Jordan negotiated and signed a Mega joint venture/split label deal with Sony Music/Epic Records in

October 1999 and the rest was history.

To date, Jordan has developed, negotiated and executed independent and major label deals for some of the South’s most prominent artist such as: South Park Mexican, Z-Ro, Lil Ke-Ke, Tre “The Truth”, Big Moe, Lil Flip, Pokey, Big Mello, Baby Bash, Papa Rue, C- Note, Lil O, Big Hawk, Daz Dillinger and many more. He has also represented and managed several independent record labels and groups including, All-In Music Group, Commission Music Group, Dope House Records, Screwed Up Click, KMJ Records, EQ Entertainment and Wreckshop Records. Moreover, Jordan successfully structured, negotiated and executed independent and major record label distribution deals with Southwest Wholesale Distribution, Select-o-Hits, Gonzales, Sony Music Group, Universal Music Group, Koch Records and many more.

Jordan also finds time to pursue his passion while he serves as a Professor at Texas Southern University’s School of Communications. He is extremely proud of co-creating and drafting the Entertainment, Recording and Management (ERM) degreed curriculum for the
