Dr. Tyrone D. Dixon – Producer/Director and Media Psychologist, Professor

After completing undergraduate work at Texas Southern University, Dr. Dixon received his MFA in producing from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles California.

He also managed to garner work on Hollywood studio projects like How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Players Club, and Boogie Nights, Hustle and Flow and many others working in production, art direction financial management, and producing. He was a producer on the Academy Award

nominated Tupac Resurrection and a producer and director for Debbie Allen’s Emmy Nominated Cool Women for WEtv.  Dr. Dixon worked as the office manager and assistant to the President for Russell Simmons DEF Pictures.

Dr. Dixon debut film, the documentary 8 Wheels and Some Soul Brotha Music, was the inspiration for the successful Fox feature film ROLL BOUNCE, starring Boww and Nick Cannon, Meagan Good. 8 Wheels went on to win multiple film festival awards prior to its release in 2005. Dr. Dixon taught as a visiting Professor at TSU from 2010-2014 and worked diligently with the School of Communication to develop TSUTV and TSU Studios where awarding winning student projects were created. Presently Dr. Dixon is a professor at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles and is producing/directing a feature film in the fall of 2016 and completing post production on his latest documentary.
