Benét J. Wilson is the founder and sole proprietor of Aviation Queen LLC, an aviation/travel writing, multimedia and consulting business. Clients include USA Today, AirwaysNews.com and Airports Council International-North America’s Centerlines magazine. She is also the Air Travel Expert for About.com.
Wilson has worked for various aviation trade publications, including AirwaysNews.com, AOPA Pilot magazine, The Weekly of Business Aviation, Aviation Daily, Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine and Commuter/Regional Airline News. She has been a trade journalist for nearly 30 years, and also spent five years in senior corporate communications positions at Delta Air Lines, Mesa Air Group and Rolls-Royce North America.
Wilson serves on the board of the Online News Association, where she chairs the Diversity Committee. She is the immediate past chair of NABJ’s Digital Journalism Task Force and currently serves as VP of education. She was NABJ convention Program Chair in 2012 and 2013, has served on key NABJ committees and task forces and is active in the Baltimore Association of Black Journalists. She is a founder of the Journalism Diversity Project, a curated list that connects diverse digital journalists potential employers and organizations needing speakers. She has created and presented workshops at journalism conferences on career options, branding and digital media. She created the @NABJDigital Twitter account in January 2009.
